  • The food was excellent quality, and delicious. The atmosphere was nice, being in an old house made for a cozy and pretty setting. With the tip we were in the $50 per person range, but it was a nice evening out.

  • A local Lebanese woman recommended TarBoush to us since we travel to Portland frequently and we're always looking for good Lebanese food! The recommendation was spot on. TarBoush is located in a historical style house on a street with tons of fun vintage shopping, so we made an afternoon of it. The house has beautiful tall ceilings and lots of character. This would be an excellent place for a date because portions are shareable and they don't rush you at all, so you can leisurely enjoy coffee and dessert. We got the mezze platter (pictured), which came with fresh hot bread straight out of the oven, and a lamb kabob plate with an additional chicken skewer. The mezze was not only beautiful, but it was probably the best labneh and baba ghanoush I've ever had. The mezze can easily serve 4 or more. The lamb was so tender and well seasoned, and we are from Central Oregon, where lamb is easily available, but I've never had it this good. I highly recommend ordering the lamb! Chicken was also delicious with a nice fresh citrusy marinade. Service is attentive but not intrusive, and very homey and warm. We ended our meal with Turkish coffee, mint tea, and a baklava with orange blossom water, which was perfect (and such a generous portion that we ended up taking some home). We can't wait to come back.

  • Delicious food, lovely service, decent prices for the sizable portions you get. My partner and I split the lamb and the mujadarah, both of which were excellent and left us with plenty of leftovers to take home. Much of the menu is cooked to order, and the owner is incredibly kind and helpful. We went on a weeknight at 7pm, and were baffled by how empty it was. Can’t recommend enough

  • The food and service at TarBoush is unrivaled. I haven’t had home cooking quite like this before, and the food is well worth the price you pay for it. All of the food is served from the recipe of a sweet woman who holds her standards to an extremely high level. The owners of this restaurant will not serve you anything less than spectacular, and I was so impressed by the portions and delicacy that went into each dish. I will definitely be coming back here!

  • I loved TarBoush for so many reasons. Family owned. The family is very sweet and accommodating. The food is authentic and delicious. I booked the restaurant for a small private party and everything went smoothly (minus the unexpected snow in Portland!). The food was flawless and I can't wait to be back for non business reasons. Thank you so much, Peter and family!

  • This is a special place. The charming owners Sam and his wife took over 2 years ago, and every item on the menu is crafted from scratch with love. We ordered the Makali and Tarboush signature banquet. Enough food for 4 or 5 people. Tradtional attire and decor adorn the inside of this large portland charmer of a house turned restaurant. Everything was exceptional. Notably, the dolmas are sweet, tangy, and hearty. Baba gannouj tasted fresh roasted - savory yet light and refreshing. The best I've ever had. The beef scewers and touf will linger in my mind like an evening grilling with friends. I'll be back surely, to bring anyone special and show them a true gem.

  • I had always wondered about TarBoush and I am glad I went. The food seems like it is all made from scratch. The tabouli had really fresh parsley and mint, it’s a much more herbaceous type of tabouli that isn’t dominated by grains. It’s a nice touch that they give you warm fresh bread. The hummus and falafel was some of the best I’ve had anywhere in town. The only thing that was off putting about the experience was they use an air freshener that affects the olfactory experience. Other than that, 10 out of 10 food, I was pretty blown away and will definitely be back. Also, it goes without saying that there are tons of vegan options.

  • Had an excellent dinner here the other night with family. First off, the atmosphere is stunning! It’s so cute how they converted an old house into this precious restaurant. Secondly, the food was phenomenal! We ordered (in order of photos below) chicken kabob, grilled halloum (highly recommend!!!), cold mezza platter and lastly Bamyeh (vegan option, very tasty and rich in flavor!). The meat was juicy and succulent and the spices used were so rich and flavorful. The owners were so sweet as well, it’s truly a gem on Hawthorne you need to check out!
